Checkpoint legal
Privacy policy
This policy explains how the current Checkpoint app and these support pages handle information. For privacy questions or requests, contact checkpoint.app.support@gmail.com.
Accounts and your journal
Creating a Checkpoint account is optional. If you create one, Supabase handles authentication information such as your email address and password. Checkpoint stores your account ID, optional username and display name, played games, ratings, private reviews, wishlist, timestamps, and synchronization or deletion markers associated with your account.
Your reviews and library data are private in the current version of Checkpoint. The app does not currently provide public profiles or social feeds. Your password is handled by the authentication provider and is not stored in Checkpoint's game catalog or journal data.
Guest use, offline use, and device storage
You can browse and keep a guest journal without creating an account. Guest journal data remains on the device unless you explicitly choose to import it into an account. Signed-in account data may also be cached locally so the app can work offline and synchronize changes later.
Checkpoint keeps guest data and signed-in account caches separate. Signing out does not automatically erase unrelated guest data. Recommendation ranking is calculated on the device from your played and rated games. To load game details and recommendation candidates, the app sends game identifiers and genre filters derived from your journal to the public catalog service. Checkpoint does not create a separate cloud recommendation profile.
Authentication sessions and local app data are stored using the storage mechanisms provided by the app platform or browser. Local journal data is not separately encrypted by Checkpoint itself.
Catalog browsing and artwork
Checkpoint sends catalog searches, filters, and game identifiers to Supabase and requests game artwork through Cloudflare-hosted infrastructure. Those providers may receive normal connection information such as your IP address, request path, timing, and standard device or browser headers. Public catalog and artwork requests are not intended to include your Checkpoint password or private journal contents.
If you open an external metadata link for a game, you leave Checkpoint and visit a third-party website. That website handles your visit under its own terms and privacy practices.
Authentication emails
Supabase and its configured email service may send account-verification and password-reset messages needed to create, secure, or recover your account.
Error monitoring
In builds configured for error reporting, Checkpoint sends crash and technical-error diagnostics to Sentry. Builds without a Sentry configuration do not send these diagnostics.
Diagnostic information can include the app release or build, platform and operating-system information, stack traces, and limited technical context needed to understand a failure. Checkpoint is configured to avoid intentionally sending passwords, authentication tokens, private journal text, request bodies, session replay, screenshots, or other unnecessary personal content for error diagnosis.
As with other internet services, diagnostic requests may expose normal connection information such as an IP address to the provider.
Support and deletion emails
If you contact checkpoint.app.support@gmail.com, your email address and message are received through Gmail so Peter Taves can respond, provide support, or handle a privacy or deletion request. Please include only the information needed for your request and never send passwords, verification codes, or authentication tokens.
Support correspondence is retained only as long as reasonably necessary to respond to the request, resolve related support or privacy issues, maintain appropriate administrative or security records, and comply with applicable obligations.
What Checkpoint does not intentionally collect
Checkpoint does not intentionally collect contacts, precise location, camera or microphone recordings, payment information, or advertising identifiers. The current app does not include advertising or marketing analytics SDKs. Connectivity status may be used to support synchronization, and cover images may be cached on your device.
Retention and deletion
Account data is retained while your Checkpoint account exists. Removing an entry from your journal marks its cloud record as deleted for synchronization. The app clears deleted rating and review values from the active cloud record; deletion markers remain so other devices can learn about removals.
Deleting your account removes the active cloud authentication account, profile, played-game records, ratings, private reviews, wishlist, and associated synchronization or deletion metadata. When deletion is completed inside the app, Checkpoint also clears that account's local cache, pending changes, and migration backups on that installation.
Account deletion cannot remotely erase data that exists only on another offline device, in an independent guest journal, or in a copy you exported yourself. The shared game catalog and artwork are not personal account records and are not removed when an account is deleted.
Service providers may retain limited operational logs, security records, or backup copies for periods determined by their service, security, continuity, and legal requirements. Those copies may not disappear immediately when you delete your Checkpoint account.
Read the deletion instructions or request deletion by email.
These support pages
This static website does not use tracking, analytics, cookies, forms, third-party fonts, or JavaScript. The hosting provider may receive normal connection information when serving the pages. Clicking an email link opens your email application rather than sending information through a website form.
Questions and requests
Contact Peter Taves at checkpoint.app.support@gmail.com for privacy questions, access or correction requests, or account deletion. Checkpoint may need to verify account ownership before acting on an account-specific request.
